The Gaming Commission of Ghana has intensified the clampdown on illegal gaming activities in the country. Since the beginning of the year, one hundred and fourteen (114) machines have been confiscated in a raid on illegal gaming centers in the capital, Accra and surrounding environs, Klagon, Spintex and Assin Fosu.
The raids form part of routine joint operational Police taskforce tours, kick started in 2016 by the Commission, to address the challenge of underage gambling and eradicate the menace of illegal gaming operations in Ghana. Mission Statement To create and maintain a viable, fair and respectable Gaming Industry for all who have interest in or are affected by gaming in the country.
Such illegal gaming operators do not have licenses to operate and transact their activities in very obscure places, exposing their machines to children which is in violation of the Gaming Act 2006, Act 721.
The joint operational taskforce will continue its swoops across the country, to smoke out the perpetuators of these illegalities across all gaming centers and also take punitive measures against facilities which do not adhere to the rules and regulations governing the industry.
The Commission is also counting on the general public to assist in raiding activities of illegal gaming operators and curb underage gambling by sending tip-offs on facilities spotted permitting children to access their centers and any form of illegality to 0242666753.– Gaming Commission of Ghana
