GOVERNING BOARD OF GAMING COMMISSION INAUGURATED

An 11-Member Governing Board of the Gaming Commission of Ghana has been sworn into office, with a charge to license gaming machines of the highest standards and protocols, with options for responsible and sustainable gaming.Inaugurating the Board, the Minister of the Interior, Hon. Ambrose Dery tasked the Members to pay critical attention to, and mitigate the challenge of underage gaming especially in vulnerable communities. “I will therefore urge you to work with the Management of the Commission, to further promote responsible and sustainable gaming practices that prevents and minimizes harm to those who are not supposed to indulge in the activity.”

The Minister further urged the Board to prioritize the amendment of the existing Gaming Act 2006 (Act 721), while assisting the Commission’s management to develop a Legislative Instrument to give effect to the Act 721.He urged the Board to work with Management and staff of the Commission, to build a world class and sustainable gaming industry in Ghana.

Accepting the mandate, the new Board Chair, Mr. Gary Nimako Marfo ESQ., expressed gratitude to the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the trust reposed in the Members. He reiterated the commitment of the Board to execute the task assigned them.
