Gaming Commission of Ghana Concludes Heritage Month Celebration With Maiden Cooking Competition

The Gaming Commission of Ghana has climaxed its month long celebrations of the Heritage Month with a Cooking Competition among its staff, to promote the consumption of indigenous Ghanaian foods and build a stronger working relationship among its staff.
The Ag. Gaming Commissioner, Mr. Emmanuel Siisi Quainoo noted that the month long celebration was aimed at reminding staff of the Commission, to constantly preserve and celebrate the cultural heritage of Ghana through the wearing of made-in-Ghana clothes, the consumption of local foods as well as building and bonding a stronger teamwork among the staff of the Gaming Commission.

The Deputy Minister of the Interior, Hon. Mr. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, who graced the occasion, was accompanied by the Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of the Interior, Madam Doreen Panyin Annan, as well as the Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council, Dr. George Amoh.
Staff of the Commission were divided into five groups namely, Northern Zone, Ashanti Zone, Volta Zone, Western Zone and the Southern Zone, to prepare popular local dishes associated with the five zones, as well as adopt another dish from a different region.
The judges for the program were Ex-Foootballer of the Accra Hearts of Oak, Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Polo, acclaimed nationally as the “Dribbling Magician,” media personalities, Captain Smart of Media General, and Ms. Samuella Quartey of GTV News, highlife artist Madam Akosua Adjeipong, and Mr. Kweku Quansah, Deputy Managing Director, Huawei.

Also, in attendance were the Director, Undergraduate Studies at the Trinity Theological Seminary, Very Rev. Dr. Abraham Boateng, who gave the opening prayer, and the famous gospel artists, the Tagoe Sisters.
The event, which was sponsored by Africa Zone Foods, saw the staff of the Western Zone group emerge winners with their tolo-beef ankwamu and Ampesi with Abom.
The Volta Zone placed second with Akple & Fetridetsi and Mpotompoto, while the Northern Zone took the third position with Tuo zaafi with Ayoyo and Garifɔtɔ.

The Southern Zone came fourth with their aponkye jollof and otɔ, whilst the Asante Zone, which prepared fufu and aponkye nkrakra, placed fifth.
The Symphonials Chorale, a gospel group based in Accra, were also at hand to provide good gospel music for the program.
