The Ag. Commissioner of the Gaming Commission of Ghana, Mr. Emmanuel Siisi Quainoo, has encouraged staff of public institutions to take extra steps towards productivity and national development.
He made these remarks during the Commission’s ‘Fugulicious Wednesday’ celebration, observed in line with the national Fugu Wednesday initiative, which honours the craftsmanship of Ghana’s indigenous Northern handwoven smock fabric.
Drawing inspiration from the fabric itself, Mr. Quainoo noted that the carefully interwoven strands of yarn symbolise deliberate effort, which encourages unity, and teamwork.
“This is a celebration of Ghana’s cultural heritage, a true representation of artistry, resilience, and our proud identity.

“When you consider the time, patience, creativity, and thoughtfulness that go into weaving each fugu smock, it reminds us that we can achieve far more as a nation if we give our very best and work together with purpose,” he stated.
Staff proudly embraced the fugu spirit, showcasing the rich and vibrant patterns of the traditional smock, a powerful reminder that strength lies in unity and collaboration.
The declaration of Fugu Wednesday is an initiative of the Government of Ghana, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, aimed at deepening national cultural awareness, affirming Ghana’s identity, and promoting the country’s rich cultural heritage globally.
