GAMING COMMISSION HOLDS RTI SENSITIZATION FOR MANAGEMENT

The Management of the Gaming Commission of Ghana (GCG) has participated in a sensitization session on the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989) at the Commission’s head office in Accra on January 23, 2026.

The training was facilitated by the Commission’s Right to Information (RTI) Unit and graced by Ms. Angela Kpegah, a Commissioner at the RTI Commission. Ms. Kpegah highlighted the importance of compliance with the RTI Act across all public institutions, stressing that adherence is not only a legal obligation but also a crucial step in strengthening good governance, transparency, and public trust. She commended the Gaming Commission for prioritizing RTI sensitization and urged Management to lead by example in embedding RTI principles into daily operations.

In his remarks, the Acting Gaming Commissioner, Mr. Emmanuel Siisi Quainoo reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to upholding the RTI Act. He emphasized that Management and staff are dedicated to ensuring the public’s right to access information is fully respected and that the Commission remains responsive to the expectations of citizens.

During the session, Management was taken through the purpose of the RTI Act, procedures for making and processing information requests, statutory timelines, exemptions, and appeal mechanisms. The briefing also underscored the critical role of the RTI Officer in ensuring timely and accurate responses to requests, as mandated by law.

The sensitization forms part of the Commission’s broader efforts to strengthening institutional capacity, promote transparency, and enhance accountability in its operations.
